Grandmother Survivor of Domestic Violence has been Incarcerated for 3 years Suffering from Extensive Depression is now in the controversial Adelanto Detention Center!
A grandmother and domestic violence survivor, Venecia Duarte (A#079-725-205 ) had been detained in Yuba County Jail for 3 years. She recently was transferred to the GEO corporate owned Adelanto Detention Center.
Even though she passed her credible fear interview, which is the first step to fight an asylum case, she still remains behind bars.
As a 23 year long time resident of New York, Venecia has been a loving mother to her son, daughter and her two grandchildren. Her life has been devoted to caring for her family.
She has been the only person to look after her son who deals with mental health issues. Since Venecia’s separation from her family, her son has had severe breakdowns and has been hospitalized several times. The family is unable to visit her because she is currently detained in CA and her family is across the country in New York.
Venecia is a valuable member to her community in New York and California. She cannot be left and forgotten inside a detention center. Her family in New York is waiting for her release.
